E-RAN Explained
An E-RAN combines the proven enterprise wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) architecture approach with cellular technology to integrate cellular devices within the corporate infrastructure. The arrival of the Wi-Fi switch deployment architecture unlocked the enterprise Wi-Fi market and unleashed a multi-billion dollar industry seemingly overnight. SpiderCloud Wireless recognized from day one that standalone radio nodes using licensed spectrum will encounter the same scaling challenges inside enterprise environments as Wi-Fi did in its early days. Therefore, the SpiderCloud Wireless E-RAN system has been designed from the ground up to adopt the enterprise WiFi deployment architecture for licensed-spectrum applications.
Recognizing that standalone radio nodes are not sufficient to support enterprise deployments beyond the small office/home office (SOHO) environment, the SpiderCloud Wireless E-RAN solution introduces a new system architecture that consists of the following elements:

The key to the SpiderCloud Wireless E-RAN system is the introduction of a new solution element, the SmartCloud Services Node (SCSN). It is analogous to the enterprise Wi-Fi Switch. The resulting system architecture is one that allows mobile operators to deploy cost-effective indoor cellular systems to enterprises beyond SOHO environments and scale all the way up to Fortune 100 companies.
In doing so, SpiderCloud Wireless redefines operator-sponsored cellular service delivery into enterprises. The SpiderCloud Wireless E-RAN system helps mobile operators monetize their licensed spectrum, increase service penetration, and drive mass-scale adoption of indoor enterprise cellular solutions.
Enterprises in turn benefit from a dedicated 3G cellular network inside that enables corporate-sponsored cellular devices to become mobile extensions of the corporate infrastructure. As a result, cellular mobility can be extended to every business process and application to become the productivity enhancing killer application for every enterprise.
